Summary:

  • Jonathan Anderson replaces Kim Jones and Maria Grazia Chiuri as unified creative director at Christian Dior
  • The Northern Irish designer will oversee both men's and women's collections for the French fashion house
  • Anderson's first menswear collection debuts during Paris Fashion Week in June 2025, with womenswear following in autumn

The appointment confirms months of industry speculation. Anderson, who previously led creative direction at LOEWE, will now handle both menswear and womenswear divisions at the French luxury house.

Christian Dior Couture President and CEO Delphine Arnault announced the decision in an official statement. "I am pleased to welcome Jonathan Anderson to lead the feminine and masculine creations of the maison", Arnault said. "I have followed his career with great interest since he joined the LVMH group more than ten years ago. I am convinced he will bring our maison a creative and modern vision, inspired by the wonderful history of monsieur Dior and the codes he created. He will be supported by our teams and our incredible ateliers who will bring his creativity to life".

The restructuring represents a departure from Dior's previous approach of maintaining separate creative directors for men's and women's lines. By consolidating creative leadership under Anderson, the maison aims to establish a more unified aesthetic vision across both collections.

Anderson expressed his appreciation for the opportunity in his response. "It is a great honor to join the Dior maison as creative director of the women's and men's collections", the designer stated. "I have always been inspired by the rich history of this maison, by its depth and its empathy. I look forward to working alongside its legendary ateliers to create the next chapter of this remarkable story. I wish to express my most sincere thanks to Delphine Arnault and Bernard Arnault for the trust and loyalty shown over the years".

The Northern Irish designer's tenure will begin with his menswear debut during Paris Fashion Week, scheduled for June 24-29, 2025, showcasing the spring/summer 2026 season. His first women's collection will follow during the autumn shows, while the timing for his haute couture presentation remains to be announced.

Anderson's background includes extensive experience within the LVMH portfolio, having spent over a decade with the luxury conglomerate before this appointment. The transition marks the end of Kim Jones's leadership of Dior Men and Maria Grazia Chiuri's direction of the women's collections.

The fashion industry will closely watch how Anderson interprets Dior's heritage codes across both gender categories, particularly given his track record of blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities during his previous role.
