London-based designer Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS are set to release their latest collaboration, marking seven years of partnership between the fashion house and the Japanese sportswear brand. The new GEL-DS Trainer 14 arrives in four distinct colorways, each priced at $140.
The collection features combinations that blend natural tones: "Waterfall/Lichen Rock" pairs cool blues with subtle green undertones, while "Desert Camp/Piquant Orange" draws from warm desert landscapes. The "Dark Mustard/Truffle Grey" option offers earthy autumn tones, and "Midnight/Purple Oxide" presents a darker palette with deep purple accents.
Technical details include a multi-layered upper construction that combines different textures - mesh panels provide breathability, while woven sections add structure. The shoe's distinctive feature is its unconventional lacing system, where the lacestay extends past the tongue in an asymmetrical pattern, departing from traditional running shoe design.
The construction maintains ASICS' performance elements while incorporating Kostadinov's design approach. Each colorway uses gradient effects across the upper, created through the strategic placement of materials and color transitions. The shoe retains its GEL cushioning system in the midsole, balancing athletic functionality with contemporary design.
The Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-DS Trainer 14 will be available February 7 through ASICS' website and select retail partners.
