Audemars Piguet has revealed its latest collaboration with artist Brian Donnelly, known professionally as KAWS. The new Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon "COMPANION" merges haute horlogerie with contemporary art in a limited series of 250 pieces.
The timepiece features a 43mm sandblasted titanium case housing the hand-wound caliber 2979, which delivers 72 hours of power reserve at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The movement is visible through a dial that showcases KAWS' signature COMPANION character rendered in varied gray tones against a sunburst titanium background. The tourbillon mechanism is positioned at the center of the figure's torso, creating a mechanical heartbeat effect.
Details throughout the watch reference both makers' design languages. The Royal Oak's traditional octagonal bezel screws now incorporate KAWS' characteristic "X" motif, which also appears in COMPANION's eyes. The black ceramic crown complements the watch's industrial aesthetic.
The watch comes with two interchangeable calfskin straps in light and slate gray, both finished with a textile-like surface texture.
Available through Audemars Piguet boutiques, the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon "COMPANION" is priced at 200,000 Swiss Francs (approximately 226,504 USD).
