The Cleveland-born rapper Kid Cudi has confirmed details for his upcoming studio album "Free", including its release date and visual presentation. The project will arrive on streaming platforms August 22.

Through his Instagram account, Cudi revealed the album's cover artwork, captured by photographer Norman Jean Roy. The image shows the artist in mid-leap against a cloudy backdrop, a visual choice Cudi connected to themes of liberation.

"I wanted something that really expressed freedom, so the concept of me leaping into the clouds made so much sense", Cudi explained in his social media post. He cited "The Truman Show" as inspiration for the concept and indicated the full album artwork will include additional visual elements.

The album's promotional cycle continues with "Grave", the second single, which arrives July 11 alongside its music video. This follows "Neverland", the lead track Cudi released in May, timed with his appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Cudi's Instagram post suggested the album represents a departure or evolution in his artistic direction, though specific details about the project's musical content, collaborators, or track listing remain undisclosed. The August release date places "Free" in the latter half of the summer music release calendar.

The Norman Jean Roy photography adds a notable visual component to the project, with Roy known for his work with major publications and celebrity subjects. Cudi's description of the leap imagery connects to broader themes that may run throughout the album's content.
