New Balance releases the Made in USA 990v7 on 6 November 2026. The recommended price is $200 (about €174). You find the shoe on NewBalance.com and at selected retailers worldwide.
The 990 first appeared in 1982 at $100 (about €87), a high price for a running shoe at the time. New Balance says the model followed four years of research and development. Since then, the 990 has moved beyond running, and the brand says each new version keeps the heritage of the original while refining shapes, technology and details.
Chris Davis, Brand President and Chief Marketing Officer of New Balance, describes the reach of the shoe: “Born from running, the 990 has grown far beyond its original purpose, earning the admiration of marathoners, fashionistas, and comfort enthusiasts around the globe.” He closes with a line on the 990v7: “That versatile excellence of the 990v7 continues to make it beloved by supermodels in London and dads in Ohio alike.”
New Balance describes the design as “memories from the future”. The 990v7 changes the proportions, the material overlays and the construction, which gives the shoe a slimmer and more minimal shape. The upper combines pigskin suede with breathable mesh, leather details and synthetic suede side supports. The midsole uses a softer version of the FuelCell foam introduced on the 990v6. ENCAP, the CR device and a new TPU element in the medial area handle stability.
The 990v7 is made in the United States. New Balance states that its Made in USA footwear contains at least 70% US domestic value. The Federal Trade Commission, the US federal agency for consumer protection, sets the standard for Made in USA claims.
ROSALÍA, Josh Allen, Cooper Flagg and IU appear in the global campaign for the launch. The four come from music, sport and entertainment.
