Jil Sander has named its new creative director following the departure of Lucie and Luke Meier, who concluded their nearly decade-long tenure with the autumn/winter 2025 collection.
The OTB-owned fashion house has appointed Simone Bellotti to lead the brand, with Bellotti leaving his position at Bally with immediate effect.
"I am incredibly honored to join Jil Sander, a historic maison that created a new aesthetic through its unique approach and strong identity, profoundly influencing the design community", said Bellotti of his appointment.
Before replacing Rhuigi Villaseñor at the Swiss luxury brand in 2023, Bellotti built an extensive résumé in the fashion industry. He spent a considerable period at Gucci and previously held senior design positions at Dolce&Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, and Gianfranco Ferré.
Bellotti now faces the task of writing a new chapter for the brand, which has made sophisticated minimalism and essential elegance its signature in the fashion world. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how he interprets Jil Sander's distinctive design language while bringing his own perspective to the label.
The appointment comes at a time when many luxury brands are reconsidering their creative direction amid changing consumer preferences and economic pressures in the global luxury market.
