Adidas and designer Yohji Yamamoto launched their joint label Y-3 in 2002. This collaboration blends sportswear with high fashion. For the Fall/Winter 2026 collection, the brand selected skateboarder Mark Gonzales to lead the promotional imagery. Gonzales has maintained a relationship with both partners for decades. Photographer Jet Swan captured the visual campaign on location in Paris. The shoot took place at the Palais d'Iéna during the Y-3 fashion presentation earlier this year.
The campaign presents a direct study of Gonzales, accompanied by a companion short film directed by Torsten Frank where Gonzales skateboards through the public streets of Paris. Avoiding traditional fashion narratives, the raw, cinematic imagery captured by Swan relies on natural lighting and simple angles to emphasize Gonzales' personal presence and historical connection to skate culture. This visual style directly mirrors the relaxed, unforced nature of the seasonal clothing.
Shifting from tailored shapes to loose, daily garments, the seasonal apparel features a signature black color scheme chosen by Yohji Yamamoto. To contrast the deep black tones, visual artist Chito contributed custom illustrations for specific items in the collection. Chito, a creator known for street-style airbrush drawings, placed bold graphic interventions across selected apparel. A major piece from this collaboration is the black leather biker jacket featuring Chito's custom airbrushed graphics. Another standout garment is the wide-leg wool trouser, officially named the Wool City Graphic Wide Pants, which is supplemented by a selection of collaborative denim trousers.
Alongside the tailored pieces, the collection introduces heavy knitwear. An oversized knitted sweater features a frayed hem and long woven bands representing the classic Adidas three stripes, forming a core part of the campaign's casual styling. This design effectively balances loose athletic wear with structured elements.
For footwear, Y-3 presents three new sneaker designs, led by the Diagonal Stan Smith. Designers reconstructed this classic Adidas tennis shoe with asymmetrical lacing and a warped shape. The other two models, the Tokyo Warped and the Nisi High, continue the experimental design philosophy of the label. The collection released on July 15, 2026, with online stores and physical boutiques stocking the apparel globally.
