The installation takes the enclosed architecture of the modern workplace and turns the layout into a strict organizational system. Inside the gallery, you encounter cubicle dividers, overhead fluorescent tubes, and Herman Miller seating units. These design objects reject standard comfort and function instead as tools of physical discipline. Uddenberg places composite human figures directly through office chairs and desks, showing how workers turn into functional components of an open-plan office. You observe how fitness culture, personal styling, and consumer technologies merge with everyday tools of office labor.

Born in Stockholm, Anna Uddenberg now lives and works in Berlin, earning a steady international reputation for figurative sculpture. Uddenberg received the Hector Kunstpreis in 2022 and won the Overbeck-Preis in 2023. Major public collections hold work by the sculptor, including Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the Boros Collection in Berlin. In previous years, major institutions exhibited sculptures by Uddenberg, including Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Centre Pompidou-Metz, and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

Audiences in the Czech Republic previously encountered Uddenberg during group exhibitions at PLATO Ostrava and Prague Art Week. Czech private collections also hold multiple sculptures by the artist, including the Havrlant Art Collection and Collett Prague / Munich. This presentation at Telegraph Gallery marks the first comprehensive solo project by the Berlin artist in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. In New York, Meredith Rosen Gallery presents the same project simultaneously, placing Olomouc inside an international exhibition circuit.

The project relies on a direct connection to the physical architecture of the building. Mira Macík, the chief curator of Telegraph Gallery, explains the background of the exhibition: “For the programme at Telegraph Gallery, we have long sought to create a dialogue between the Czech, Slovak, and international art scenes, while presenting artists who address themes that resonate with contemporary society. Anna Uddenberg’s work appealed to me both through its distinctive, highly contemporary visual language and through its themes, which stem from the everyday experience of adapting our bodies to the working environment. The White Noise exhibition, which curator Samuel Staples is developing with the artist, responds very specifically to the gallery’s space. Telegraph’s industrial architecture, connected to the history of labour and production, enters into dialogue here with the contemporary office environment that Anna Uddenberg creates within her installation. For me, it is precisely the tension between the industrial space and contemporary administrative architecture that is one of the key elements of the entire exhibition”, Telegraph occupies Jungmannova 3 in Olomouc, operating 350 square meters of exhibition space for contemporary visual art. The cultural center runs educational workshops, art classes, and artist residencies for Czech and international creators. You visit the galleries Tuesday through Thursday from 9 am to 7 pm, Friday from 9 am to 9 pm, and Saturday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. General entry tickets cost 50 CZK (2 €), though the opening reception offered free admission. If you want year-round access, you join the TLG CLUB loyalty programme at the reception counter or through the official website, securing complimentary gallery tickets and discounts on publications.
