Apple hosted the Surprise and Shine event to reveal new hardware. CEO John Ternus introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the Apple first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo.

You experience significant hardware changes when using these devices. The iPhone 18 Pro costs $1,199 (€1,085) for the 256GB model. The iPhone 18 Pro Max costs $1,299 (€1,175). Both devices go on sale Friday, September 18. Apple offers four colors for the Pro series. Buyers choose from black, silver, burgundy, or a blue option called glacier.

The new A20 Pro chip powers the Pro devices. A second Neural Engine supports the iOS 27 Siri AI integration. You get up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max.

For photography, Apple added a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. You control lens aperture, shutter speed, and white balance directly in the app. The system locks focus on moving subjects. Cinematic Mode records 4K video at 60fps. You verify photo authenticity using the Apple Reference Image feature, while SynthID identifies AI manipulated edits.

The iPhone Duo launches on Friday, October 23. Pricing starts at $1,999 (€1,810) for 256GB. The titanium body features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner folding screen. Buyers select between Star White and Night Sky colors.

A hidden under-display FaceTime camera sits inside the folding screen. Touch ID moves to the side power button. You use the USB-C Apple Pencil on both displays to draw or take notes. The operating system supports split-screen multitasking with a vertical dock on the right side.
