Arc’teryx has launched the Postour Boot, a men’s recovery boot for après touring. The design has two parts. You wear an insulated, waterproof overboot outside, and a separate slipper sits inside the overboot until you pull the slipper out indoors. Arc’teryx suggests wearing the full boot outside base camp and the slipper once you are inside.
Coreloft synthetic insulation lines both the overboot and the slipper. Arc’teryx describes synthetic insulation as quick drying and warm when damp. The slipper supports your foot while you wear the boot. Once removed, the slipper works on its own and carries a TPU grip outsole made for indoor floors.
The overboot uses GORE-TEX Invisible Fit, with the waterproof layer running to the top of the collar for added waterproofing and warmth. A drawcord closes the high collar in the same way as a climbing chalk bag, which keeps deep snow and slush out. Endure 360 rubber coverage wraps the whole boot and protects against abrasion and impact.
Outside, the boot has a Vibram Arctic Grip outsole made for icy surfaces. The lug pattern is designed for traction in snow and other soft surfaces. Underfoot cushioning gives your feet soft support after a long day in ski boots.
The men’s Postour comes in two colorways, Black/Black and Tatsu/Black. Both have a textile upper, a synthetic insole and a rubber outsole. Arc’teryx lists the boot under model number X000010507 for alpine, touring, freeride and resort use. The brand calls the boot PFAS compliant and recommends surface cleaning only.
Sizes run from US 7 to 13 in whole sizes. Arc’teryx advises you to size up if you fall between sizes or want a roomier fit.
The Postour Boot costs $300 (about €260) and is available now on the Arc’teryx website.
