The Centre Pompidou-Metz marks its 15th year with an extensive exhibition titled The Endless Sunday, under the direction of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. The show activates all spaces within the museum—from main galleries to rooftops and hidden corners—displaying over 400 works from the Centre Pompidou collection.
Cattelan has arranged these pieces alongside approximately 30 of his own creations. His contributions include the much-discussed Comedian, a simple banana attached to a wall with duct tape, which previously sparked international conversations about contemporary art's value and meaning. In this exhibition, the piece serves dual purposes as both satirical statement and symbolic element.
Organized as a 27-part alphabet, the exhibition explores various themes connected to literary and cinematic works. For the first time in the institution's history, every section of the building houses part of the exhibition.
Cattelan's characteristic satirical approach blends with a melancholic perspective on modern cultural mythology throughout the presentation. The exhibition remains open to visitors until February 2, 2027.
