Summary:

  • Chivas Regal releases a 16-year-old whisky with Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc.
  • The blend features 16 different whiskies aged for at least 16 years.
  • The launch coincides with chess events and advertising activations in Milan.

Chivas Regal and Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc developed the Chivas Regal 16 Year Old Limited Edition, introducing a new 16-year-old blend to the market following a collaboration with Master Blender Sandy Hyslop.

You notice notes of tangerine and raisin when you pour your glass of the new whisky, while the scent includes honey mixed with caramel and cinnamon. You taste orange marmalade and apple pie on the palate before the profile finishes with toasted wood and warm spices. The production team creates the liquid using 16 individual whiskies aged for at least 16 years. Leclerc traveled to Scotland during the development phase and selected a Longmorn Single Malt aged in ex-sherry casks to form the primary structural element.

The brand debuted the bottle at the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year before organizing an event at Villa Trivulzio for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. Leclerc played a match of SE!ZE against chess Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura at the Italian venue. Leclerc co-developed SE!ZE as a chess-inspired board game, and the match demonstrated the calculated decisions required in professional racing and product formulation.

You find an extensive outdoor advertising campaign running across Milan from September 1 to September 6. The marketing team displays promotions on 75 digital screens throughout the city to support the launch hosting 150 guests across Milan, Monza and Maranello. You access a physical poster collection event at Largo Cairoli near Piazza Castello.

The dedicated Amazon store started selling the bottle on August 31. Retailers like Rinascente in Milan and Monza stock the product and offer guided tasting sessions. Premium wine shops in Milan and Florence also carry the limited edition.

Always drink responsibly and never drive after consuming alcohol.
