You know Zurich bag maker Freitag for turning salvaged road truck tarpaulins into functional urban gear. For autumn 2026, the Swiss brand pairs with Munich record label and design studio Public Possession to repurpose cultural artwork into streetwear accessories. Public Possession maintains an established profile in underground music releases, club events, graphic design, and apparel. Rather than sourcing road-worn transit tarps, this project transforms thirteen custom event banners into one-of-a-kind messenger bags.
A German tarpaulin manufacturer originally supplied factory offcuts measuring four by five meters. Public Possession screen-printed bold graphic designs across the heavy industrial panels for an outdoor art installation. The banners first hung during an arts festival at the Haus der Kunst museum in Munich. Following the Bavarian exhibition, the installation traveled to a festival in Berlin before stopping for a joint event at the Freitag flagship store in Zurich.
Once the public exhibitions concluded, industrial crews dismantled, washed, and cut the banners to specific dimensions inside the Freitag Zurich factory. Long-standing European manufacturing partners then stitched the individual cutouts into finished bags.
The resulting “NICE MESSENGER BAGS” limited edition presents two distinct silhouettes. You choose between the compact F40-PP JAMIE crossbody hip pack and the larger classic F14-PP DEXTER messenger bag. Both styles pair clean snow white backgrounds with deep blue panels. These color blocks frame the bright red Public Possession logo right next to the standard Freitag brand badge. A custom woven collaboration label sits directly along the seatbelt shoulder strap. Each bag package includes a “NICE MESSENGER BAGS” zine detailing the background history of the cross-border project.
You secure your piece starting October 29, 2026. The limited run drops exclusively on freitag.ch, publicpossession.com, and inside the Public Possession retail store in Munich. Since every banner section features different print fragments, your chosen piece remains completely unique.
