Marseille has always done things its own way.
The city holds one of the strongest cultural identities in France, with music, football, and street culture constantly feeding off one another. From pioneering rap acts like IAM and Psy4 de la Rime to modern juggernauts like Jul and SCH, Marseille’s sound and style have always been unmistakably local. Sneakers sit right at the center of that visual language, part uniform, part self-expression.
Yesterday, JD Sports and Saucony took over Stade Kléber to bring that energy to life with La Guinguette, transforming the venue into an open-air celebration of local talent, street culture, and community.
Running from 15:00 through to 22:30, the event reimagined the classic French guinguette cafe through a distinctly Marseille lens. Local performers Merveille, Denden, Diez, and Metah took to the stage, while guests recorded live freestyles, printed custom graphics, painted, and customized their own footwear.
Saucony used the moment to showcase its Retro Tech universe, spotlighting the ProGrid Omni 9 and ProGrid Guide 7, two silhouettes pulled directly from the brand’s running archives that have found a second life on the street.
Co-created alongside Marseille-based agency La Firme and local associations, La Guinguette proved that when brands honor a city's actual culture, the result feels organic, festive, and genuinely shared.
Take a look at some of the shots from yesterday with the JD Sports and Saucony community.
