You trace the origins of Kith back to September 2011 when Ronnie Fieg opened his first retail store in Manhattan. He created the ASICS GEL-LYTE III Salmon Toe for the store launch. The design combined a vibrant pink salmon toe cap with deep navy suede panels and light grey accents. This color arrangement challenged standard athletic footwear aesthetics of the time and established a clear reference point for footwear collecting.

The project generated multiple iterations over the subsequent decade. Fieg released the Salmon Toe 2.0 edition in 2016 for Kith's fifth anniversary. The team adapted the color blocking to the GEL-LYTE V model in 2021 to mark ten years of operation. Now, Kith brings back the original GEL-LYTE III shape to mark 15 years in street culture.

This 15th anniversary edition restores the initial 2011 color layout while integrating upgraded material specifications. Premium pigskin suede covers the toe cap and side paneling.
