Summary:

  • Jil Sander releases "JS EP" vinyl with electronic artist Bochum Welt before creative director Simone Bellotti's September debut show
  • The 11-track electronic music collection draws from Hamburg's music heritage and German electronic pioneers
  • Release connects fashion brand's minimalist aesthetic with experimental electronic sounds from ambient to house music

Simone Bellotti chose music over fashion previews for his first project as Jil Sander's creative director. The brand released "JS EP" by electronic artist Bochum Welt on vinyl and digital platforms while preparing for Bellotti's September 24 Milan debut.

The collaboration began with a Hamburg music video for "Wanderlust" before expanding into the full EP release. Jil Sander described Bellotti's approach: "Simone Bellotti chose music for his first JIL SANDER project, exploring a tool that entices and expresses emotions."

Bochum Welt created 11 tracks spanning ambient, IDM, and experimental house genres. The music reflects what Jil Sander calls the brand's "dual essence" of "rigor and abandon." These electronic compositions connect directly to the brand's Hamburg origins.

Hamburg shaped both Jil Sander's design philosophy and Germany's electronic music scene. The city witnessed electronic music's rise through artists like Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk during the same period when Jil Sander developed her minimalist aesthetic in the late 20th century.

The timing creates historical parallels. Bochum Welt released his debut through Aphex Twin's Rephlex label in 1994. That same year, Jil Sander opened her first Milan showroom, which later became the company's creative headquarters.

Bellotti's musical project replaces traditional fashion teasers. Instead of showing garments or accessories, the creative director used electronic music to communicate his vision for the brand's future direction.

The "JS EP" combines Hamburg's electronic heritage with Jil Sander's design principles. Electronic music's precision and experimentation mirror the brand's approach to modern minimalism and structured tailoring.

Customers find the vinyl release at Jil Sander stores and the brand's website. All major streaming platforms also carry the digital version of Bochum Welt's "JS EP."

The September 24 show will reveal how Bellotti translates this musical collaboration into fashion. The Milan presentation marks his first collection as Jil Sander's creative director.
