Summary

  • Designer presents collection through nighttime ferry video directed by Thomas Hardiman
  • Collection draws from camping and nomadic themes with repurposed materials and utility elements
  • Features collaborations including Beja soccer sneakers and 1900s-inspired footwear designs

Luca Magliano chose an unconventional approach for his Spring/Summer 2026 menswear presentation during Milan Fashion Week. Rather than a traditional runway show, the designer collaborated with director Thomas Hardiman to create a short film set aboard a ferry at night. Federico Chiari provided the musical score for the presentation.

The collection centers on what Magliano describes as "sabbatical moments" and draws heavily from camping culture and temporary living situations. This influence appears throughout the line in both conceptual and practical ways. Everyday camping materials find new purpose as design elements - ropes become fastenings, hooks transform into functional accessories, and worn backpacks appear with deliberate signs of use intact.

Material choices reflect this outdoor inspiration. Polyester and cotton appear in contrasting combinations, with garments constructed to resemble portable shelters. The designer employs raw hemlines and natural dyeing processes, allowing fabrics to age and change through wear rather than artificially distressing them during production.

Silhouettes throughout the collection favor loose, flowing cuts that prioritize comfort and movement. Color palettes combine bold tones with muted earth shades, while textural elements and string-like embellishments add surface interest to garments. The overall effect emphasizes function without sacrificing design consideration.

Footwear receives particular attention in this collection. Magliano includes laced boots inspired by 1900s designs, which he calls "Titanic boots", alongside more contemporary safety shoe interpretations. A collaboration with Beja produces soccer sneakers that balance performance features with decorative elements. Crocheted ballerina flats offer a softer contrast to the collection's more structured pieces.

The ferry setting reinforces the collection's themes of movement and impermanence. Shot during nighttime hours, the film captures both the garments and their environment in moments of stillness between destinations. This presentation method aligns with the designer's focus on transient experiences and the beauty found in temporary situations.

Through this collection, Magliano examines how clothing can adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining both practicality and aesthetic appeal. The pieces suggest a wardrobe designed for someone constantly moving, yet thoughtfully constructed for lasting wear.
