- The Triennale Milano has launched Voce, combining a listening room with cocktail service at Palazzo dell'Arte
- Architect Luca Cipelletti transformed the 700-square-foot former nightclub space with specialized acoustic design
- The venue operates Tuesday through Sunday evenings, hosting music programming and cultural events
The Triennale Milano has opened Voce, a dual-purpose venue that functions as both a listening room and cocktail bar within the Palazzo dell'Arte complex. The space occupies what was once an outpost of Piper, a nightclub from the 1960s, now converted into a cultural venue supporting the museum's music initiatives.
Located at park level, the 700-square-foot area serves multiple functions throughout the year. Programming includes live musical performances, sound art installations, workshops, and meetings. The renovation work was handled by Luca Cipelletti from AR.CH.IT, who redesigned the Piano Parco section of the building.
The architectural approach builds upon Giovanni Muzio's original 1933 museum design. Cipelletti installed a rectangular framework with supporting pillars that creates three distinct sections within the space. A continuous band of acoustic panels extends 2.2 meters high from floor to ceiling, providing both sound insulation and absorption properties.
The audio system represents a collaboration between several specialists. Hi-fi expert Giorgio Di Salvo, acoustic engineer Lucio Visentini, and panel manufacturer Knauf worked together to create a distributed mode speaker setup. The acoustic panels were specifically manufactured by Knauf to meet the technical requirements of the space.
Italian studio Anonima Luci designed the lighting system, which allows for both single-color displays and gradient effects throughout the room. The seating arrangement features a modular felt system created by Philippe Malouin and produced by Meritalia, providing flexible arrangements for different types of events.
Access to Voce is available through the main Palazzo dell'Arte entrance on Viale Camoens. The cocktail service operates from Tuesday to Sunday, with doors opening at 6 pm and closing at 2 am. During its first month of operation, the space extends its hours to accommodate daytime visitors starting at 10:30 am.
The venue represents the Triennale's expansion into dedicated music programming, utilizing the historic museum's location to create a new cultural destination within Milan's established arts district.
