Volkswagen and bicycle manufacturer n+ have introduced two electric models engineered to improve urban riding safety through automotive technology. You select between the Sport eBike priced at €3,999 and the Crossover eBike priced at €4,349. Both models incorporate high-definition cameras, radar detection, dynamic lighting, and connected wearables to protect riders in busy city streets.

The core technology package centers on the Smart View setup. A high-definition camera pairs with rear radar sensors positioned above the back wheel. These sensors continuously monitor traffic approaching from behind. The handlebar screen displays a live video feed alongside visual proximity warnings. You monitor your blind spots without turning your head away from traffic ahead.

Lighting controls integrate directly into the frame structure. A long LED strip running along the top tube functions as a permanent daytime running light. Internal sensors adjust illumination based on rider movement. The rear lights brighten red when you slow down and flash amber to signal turn directions to drivers behind you.

Optional accessories expand the protective network around your ride. The Smart Helmet costs €499 and connects to your bike via Bluetooth. The helmet mirrors your directional signals and uses impact sensors to alert emergency contacts after collisions. The Smart Glasses cost €499 and weigh 47 grams. Inspired by military head-mounted displays, the glasses offer eight hours of battery operation. The lenses display live velocity, remaining battery power, and turn-by-turn navigation directions in your field of vision.

Engineers built both models around a mid-mounted Yamaha PW-X3 motor supplying 85 Nm of torque. The Sport model includes an aluminum rigid fork, 27.5-inch wheels, 2.2-inch wide urban tires, and weighs 27.5 kilograms in size medium. The Crossover model adds a 100 mm suspension fork for rough pavement and weighs 28 kilograms in size medium. Pre-orders include the €699 Smart View package at no extra charge. Deliveries begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
