Byredo and Iittala have expanded LJUS into a full collection of glass home objects for candles, incense and fragrance. The two brands first revealed the project earlier in 2026, and the new release builds on the original concept. The collection centers on the relationship between light, scent and everyday ritual. Five pieces make up the range: a candle stand, a candle ornament, a light refractor, an incense holder and a fragrance diffuser vessel. Iittala’s historic factory in Finland produces each piece by hand.
The changing character of Nordic light inspired the collection. The sculptural forms balance fire and ice, permanence and ephemerality, and aim to change the mood of the room you place them in. The partnership rests on a shared Nordic design approach. Iittala contributes its glassmaking heritage and Byredo contributes its approach to fragrance. In the design, the flame activates the objects themselves.
Rippled, faceted glass with thick, transparent walls links all five pieces. The walls catch and distort the surrounding light, and they amplify the movement of the flame. The light refractor, the most architectural piece, wraps a candle in a substantial, undulating glass shell. The diffuser vessel repeats the same silhouette on a smaller scale, with a softly tinted lower section. The collection deliberately preserves differences in surface, proportion and clarity as traces of the handmade process. Each piece has a less uniform, more tactile character.
With this release, LJUS moves from a first reveal to a complete five-piece range. The collection launched globally on October 16, 2026. You find the collection at Iittala stores and on Iittala.com. Byredo offers the pieces through its direct-to-consumer channels.
