Summary:

  • G-STAR launches Anatomic Denim collection with architectural lines based on the Elwood model
  • Art director Jordan Hemingway creates campaign focusing on athlete movement and form
  • Taxidermists Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren produce gorilla sculpture wrapped in denim panels

Dutch fashion label G-STAR introduces its Anatomic Denim collection for the current season. The brand builds on its established focus on movement and human anatomy through this release.

The collection features sharp architectural lines that evolve from G-STAR's signature Elwood model. Two new silhouettes join the range: the Contor and the Kitoh with engineered seams. All pieces come in indigo tones and offer refined fits for consumers.

G-STAR positions this launch as more than a product release. The brand commissioned two artistic collaborations to support the collection's debut.

Art director Jordan Hemingway developed a campaign featuring athletes wearing the new pieces. His concept removes typical sports equipment to highlight the relationship between fabric and body movement. The photographs focus on form and function rather than traditional athletic imagery.

Taxidermist collective Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren created a gorilla sculpture for the project. They wrapped the life-sized figure in denim panels, creating an artwork that explores the connection between muscle structure and fabric drape. The sculpture emphasizes how clothing follows anatomical forms.

The gorilla sculpture appeared at Amsterdam Fashion Week and CIFF Copenhagen before finding a permanent home at Art Zoo Museum in Amsterdam. Visitors view the piece as part of the museum's current exhibition program.

"G-STAR is a brand with real heritage, but what makes them exciting is their appetite for reinvention and boundary-pushing", Hemingway stated. "This project was exhilarating in every sense, full of creative and technical challenges that demanded invention. Working closely with their team to solve them wasn't rewarding, it was a joy."

The Anatomic Denim collection draws from G-STAR's history of technical innovation in denim construction. The brand applies its expertise in fabric engineering to create pieces that move with the wearer's body.

Consumers find the Anatomic Denim range at G-STAR's official website and select retail partners. The collection represents the brand's ongoing exploration of denim as both fashion and functional clothing.
