The Kiko Kostadinov ASICS LYASA FF II is the fourth and last tabi shoe in a series Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS SportStyle released through 2026. The series began on 19 February with the ILARGI FF at Kiko Kostadinov London and continued with the LYASA FF and the ILARGI FF II. Laura and Deanna Fanning, who direct Kiko Kostadinov Woman, designed this final model.
The front of the shoe carries brogue detailing. The rear follows the structure of a trail shoe. The Fannings started from ASICS archive models with leather uppers and added construction details from outdoor footwear. The brogue elements give the forefoot a traditional look, while the trail-style back adds a thicker base and larger proportions than the archival tabi used as a reference. The design places a formal reference and a technical reference in one shoe.
Tabi shoes separate the big toe from the other toes, a form taken from traditional Japanese footwear. This series draws on an ASICS tabi from 2008, used by astronauts in a space training programme. Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS have worked together for nearly a decade, and the series continues their work with the ASICS archive.
The leather is selected to develop natural variations. Wrinkling, colour, markings, grain and veining differ from pair to pair, so each pair looks slightly different. Check the surface of your pair before you wear the shoes, since the marks are part of the material.
You choose between Clay Grey/Jasper Green and Reddish Brown/ASICS Blue. Sales started on 19 September at Kiko Kostadinov stores in Tokyo, London and Los Angeles and on the Kiko Kostadinov online store. The price is $230 (about €203). Artist Ryan Trecartin released the final episode of his BUCKLE YUP campaign, titled Ghost Tracks, alongside the shoe.
