Bugatti, the renowned manufacturer of high-performance luxury automobiles, has once again pushed the boundaries of automotive engineering with the remarkable achievements of its W16 Mistral model. On November 9th, the W16 Mistral set a new world record for the fastest open-top car, reaching a staggering speed of 453.91 km/h (281 mph) at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany. The record-breaking run was piloted by Andy Wallace, Bugatti's official test driver and a renowned Le Mans winner, showcasing the exceptional capabilities of the W16 Mistral. This remarkable feat builds upon Bugatti's legacy of record-setting performance, including the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse's 408.84 km/h (253 mph) record achieved in 2013 and the Chiron Super Sport 300+'s 490.48 km/h (304 mph) closed-cockpit record set in 2019. The W16 Mistral, a bespoke $14.8 million USD model, features a striking black carbon body with "Jet Orange" accents, paying homage to Bugatti's previous record-setting vehicles. The event was attended by Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, as well as Bugatti's senior team and the vehicle's owner, a collector from Punjab, India. Highlighting the W16 Mistral's prowess, the owner had the opportunity to experience the car's remarkable speed firsthand, joining Wallace for a high-speed run. This latest addition to The Singh Collection joins an exclusive lineup of Bugatti's record-breaking automobiles.
