The film, titled "Christian Dior's Night in Color", was released today by Dior in place of a standard Holiday campaign, under creative director Jonathan Anderson. Hand-drawn by Sylvain Chomet, it is based on a true story: Marlene Dietrich telling Alfred Hitchcock that she would only act in his film Stage Fright if she could wear clothes made by Christian Dior.
What Dior's Night in Color is about
In the animated version, the story turns into a fairy tale. Christian Dior has to make a dress for the German star in very little time, and a group of magical helpers step in to assist him. Robert Pattinson narrates, while the characters are voiced by a cast drawn from cinema and music.
Dior's famous medallion chair speaks with the voice of Josh O'Connor. Rihanna plays a star, Louis Garrel voices the couturier and Camille Cottin voices the actress. Three bees complete the cast, voiced by Greta Lee, Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Nine d'Urso.
The voice cast and Dior
Several of the voices already have ties to the house. O'Connor became a Dior brand ambassador in January 2026, the first former Loewe ambassador to follow Anderson to the French house. Anderson had cast him as the face of Loewe menswear in 2017 after seeing God's Own Country, and designed the costumes for Luca Guadagnino's Challengers, in which O'Connor starred.
Rihanna became the face of the J'adore fragrance in 2024, taking over from Charlize Theron. Her work with the house goes back to "Secret Garden IV", a campaign and short film shot inside Versailles in 2015, and a sunglasses collection the following year.
Camille Cottin and O'Connor also appeared in September in the launch film for the two-year partnership between Dior and A24 centred on the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York, shot by Aidan Zamiri. In that film, five actors played different versions of Anderson.
Dior, Jonathan Anderson and cinema
The Holiday film is the latest step in the link between the fashion house and film, which Anderson has kept at the centre of his work since taking over the women's and men's collections in 2025. The A24 deal made Dior the premier partner of the Cherry Lane Theatre, the oldest Off-Broadway theatre in the city, which A24 bought in 2023. The partnership funds live events, screenings and theatre productions, and its first show, Both Ends, led by Justin Vivian Bond, had costumes by Anderson.
The deal itself came out of film work. Anderson met A24 UK executive Rose Garnett while designing the costumes for Guadagnino's Queer, starring Drew Starkey. With Night in Color, Dior goes back to its own history in cinema, through an episode that put Christian Dior's clothes on screen in a Hitchcock film.
