
South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has been selected as Google's inaugural partner for a new AI-powered smart glasses initiative utilizing Android XR technology. The collaboration, unveiled at Google's I/O 2025 developer conference, aims to merge advanced extended reality capabilities with fashion-forward design.
Gentle Monster, known for its trendsetting products and distinctive aesthetic, will work with Google to develop wearable technology that integrates comfortably into daily life while maintaining the brand's signature style elements.
"We chose Gentle Monster specifically for their sophisticated approach to design", explained Shahram Izadi, Google XR's General Manager and Vice President. The partnership represents a crucial step in making extended reality technology more accessible and natural to use.
By joining forces with the South Korean fashion brand, Google gains access to a diverse, style-conscious audience while creating a fresh identity for its smart eyewear products. The collaboration connects technological innovation with upscale fashion sensibilities.
