Valentino is set to unveil L'Atelier Sonore, a specialized listening room created in partnership with Italian cultural collective Terraforma. The space will open on May 15 at the fashion house's Madison Avenue boutique in New York City.
The concept centers around a custom sound system within an immersive architectural setting, reflecting Creative Director Alessandro Michele's vision to establish a sanctuary for deep listening and quiet contemplation. Sound designer Giorgio Di Salvo has developed bespoke soundscapes that foster subtle yet profound connections with the surrounding world.
This environment serves as a vessel for fluid interaction between sound, materials, and human connection, highlighting Valentino's commitment to meaningful cultural experiences that blend aesthetic vision with emotional resonance and contemporary dialogue.
Architect Francesco Lupia collaborated on the project, which revolves around three key design elements: a custom-built audio system, a handcrafted multifunctional console inspired by traditional cabinetmaking, and modular seating with velvet cushions. The space features a patchwork of wood finishes with meticulous details that emphasize craftsmanship, intimacy, and elegance.
The opening will be marked by a 10-hour live program showcasing New York's dynamic music scene and its diverse international influences. This event will include intimate sessions featuring artists such as Laraaji, Lea Bertucci, Laurel Halo, Lizzi Bougatsos, Chuquimamani-Condori, Kevin Beasley, Veronica Vasicka, and Physical Therapy.
