After his freefall descent, MacCormac made contact with the bridge cables and glided across them for several seconds. Engineers built the board with specific requirements for this complex maneuver. The construction features a honeycomb core with carbon fiber layers. This combination provided maximum responsiveness and control during flight.

The board's bottom surface uses high-density polyethylene material. This choice helps resist abrasion from contact with the metal bridge cables while keeping weight low. Designers painted graphics directly onto the surface instead of using adhesives for better durability and cleaner finish.

The Luna Rossa team contributed engineering expertise from their America's Cup projects to this development. Their knowledge of high-performance materials and aerodynamic design proved essential for the extreme conditions MacCormac would face.
