1. Introduce Yourself to the Casawi Community: What drives you? What's your artistic vision, and what sets you apart from the crowd?

I'm BLVD, but most people know me as "The Disco Don." I'm a New York-based DJ, producer, and curator of all things groove; think deep funk, soul, disco, and whatever else gets bodies moving. My thing is blending timeless sounds with a contemporary edge, flipping between eras like it's second nature. I mean, nostalgia through music is pretty powerful.

I've been spinning globally for nearly a decade now and often get asked what keeps me going. Honestly, switching over to mainly playing vinyl and re-focusing on growing my marketing agency, DATIES, Inc., reignited my love for creating. It's something about hunting for those one-of-a-kind records and the energy that comes from connecting people through music. My vision is simple: keep the culture alive, celebrate the classics and always push things forward.

In today's DJ culture, where it's terrific how accessible technology and know-how are, I pride myself significantly on my ambiance and curation-setting skills. There are many lackluster musical creators across the board nowadays, and it's more important than ever to stand out and separate yourself from the crowd. I'm not just playing any records; I'm personally traveling to buy, find and dig for hidden and lost gems that a tiny portion of the population is hip to or spinning. I'm focused on creating a space where music heads, vinyl lovers and anyone looking for a good time can feel at home. I've spun everywhere from underground parties to global stages, but it's always about the community and the shared experience.

2. City Inspirations: How has your city influenced your artistic path? Share how its streets, culture, and energy have molded your work.

I grew up in South Florida, so my roots are in Broward County. There's lots of energy, a mix of cultures and music everywhere you turn. My Mother's family was born and raised in New York, and I've been in New York for over a decade, so I grew up with the best of both worlds. I'm most grateful to NYC for sharpening my ear and work ethic. The pace here keeps you on your toes, and the diversity pushes you to dig deeper for sounds that stand out.

Additionally, traveling has played a big part in shaping how I hear and play music. Playing and digging nationally and globally in places such as Los Angeles, London, Paris, and others opened me up to different scenes and showed me how universal funk and soul are. Each city has its own flavor: London's rare groove scene, Paris' love for the classics and LA's laid-back vibe. Every place I've spent time in has found its way into my sets, whether it's a record I picked up or just the energy from the people there. All of that comes with me every time I step behind the decks.

3. Creative Process: What fuels your creativity? Whether it's a ritual, a muse, or a moment of clarity, we're keen to learn.

Creativity hits me from many angles. Meditation keeps my mind clear and helps me reset when things get noisy. I'll be real: I'm a big advocate for alternative substances. Sometimes, a little "flower" helps me slow down and really zone in on a sound or an idea. People watching is another big one, especially in different cities or countries. Just seeing how folks move, dress or react to music always sparks something new for me.

And honestly, my lady deserves a shout. She's got an ear and is always putting me onto records I might've never listened to. Between all that, inspiration never really stops. I just try to stay open and let the ideas come however they want.

4. City Lifestyle and Art: How the places you lived influenced your career and work?

No matter the time, every city I’ve called home has left its mark on my sound and career. New York taught me how to operate in various rooms; Europe and South America opened my eyes to appreciating different rhythms; and Miami and LA taught me how to keep it cool.

New York has been my base for over a decade, and the pace here is unmatched. The city pushes you to hustle harder, always bringing something fresh to the table. LA’s scene is laid-back but serious about groove, London’s all about those rare cuts and deep soul, and Paris really appreciates the classics. Each place has its own flavor, and I pick up something new every time.

5. Latest or Upcoming Projects: Give us a glimpse into your current endeavors and what lies ahead on your creative journey.

Currently, I'm focusing on growing my digital tribe and my flagship event, Studio 4709, with my brother Mustafa. We're hoping to expand outside of NYC soon, so, I'll be putting in that groundwork to find other venues very soon. On another note, I think the time has passed for me and music production. Maybe I'll approach it again one day, but no time soon.

As for what's next, only time will tell. I like to take things one day at a time and be grateful for what's in front of me at the moment. Be sure to stay up with me on my Instagram to see what I'm getting into and where I'm at!
